Came across this article some time back last week (told you all right that I have been procrastinating!) *chuckles*
It is deplorable to see that single mums have been treated with indifference in our ‘First World’ society.
Of course many would criticise these mothers, chide them even in their present state. Harsh words fly; daughters get disowned by parents; kicked out of their only accommodation; what more is that they have to endure the invisible pressure of the society. Not everyone will look them as decent women. Of course there are a percentage of people who still hold them in regard.
To me, yes, the single mums have on one part, done wrong. But the rest of the society is equally as bad. It takes two hands to make a clap sound. By imposing some ridiculous restrictions for these single mums such as prohibited from buying 3-room flats as ‘they are meant for families’
Frankly speaking the agency in place now is so stubbornly rigid and yet trying to impress (who I have no idea) with their ‘efficient’ autocratic style of management. I hear of news heading subtlety screaming “Babies NOT enough!” and flip over to see ‘Sorry, single mums and baby-in-tow do not constitute as a family unit’ nonsense slapped right across on our national newspapers.
They can blatantly speak so loudly about change… it will probably take a major tsunami to shake everything back in place. *covers both eyes*
Thank you Ah Gong, you can have my cake and eat it. Me, a quitter? Haha, call me anything you want. I am the least bothered.
